Assistant Treasurer/Collector

Town of Ware

The Town of Ware is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Treasurer/Collector. This position reports directly to the Treasurer/Collector. Duties focus on a variety of accounting and administrative functions to assist the Treasurer/Collector in all financial operations of the office. The Assistant provides skilled accounting and computer banking support, including billing and collection activities, account reconciliation, cash management, reporting, and research, as well as other municipal procedures and functions as required.

This position requires an Associate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Taxation, Accounting, or related field, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Three (3) years of experience working in an accounting or municipal tax office; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Ability to be bonded required. Basic knowledge of accounting principles. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with numbers and attention to detail. MUNIS experience is helpful. Experience in a municipal office setting and with computerized accounting systems is preferred. The Assistant Treasurer/Collector has access to confidential and sensitive information and must exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
