You are an immigration attorney who cares deeply about people. You know how to confidently guide clients through some of the most important and stressful moments of their lives with clarity and compassion. You are comfortable managing a high caseload, communicating directly with clients, and balancing legal strategy alongside a collaborative team. You are detail-oriented, proactive, and take ownership of your work while still appreciating a team that has your back.

POSITION SUMMARY

As an Associate Attorney, you bring experience across a wide range of non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and are dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for clients. You treat clients and colleagues with compassion and respect and take pride in your work. A background in USCIS/NVC cases is strongly preferred.

You will provide legal advice, draft, review, and file petitions, applications, and case packets; manage cases collaboratively with a paralegal team; and establish, communicate, and execute case strategy. You will work closely with the Legal and Admin team to ensure clients receive timely, effective, and holistic representation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a caseload including family-based petitions, T Visas, U Visas, VAWA, adjustment of status, asylum, and removal defense
  • Conduct client consultations, assess eligibility, develop legal strategy, and educate clients on strategy and any changes
  • Prepare and file petitions, applications, and motions with USCIS, immigration courts, and consulates; review all filings for accuracy prior to submission
  • Represent clients in USCIS interviews and EOIR proceedings as appropriate
  • Supervise, delegate to, and guide paralegal/legal support staff in preparing casework, petitions, motions, and applications
  • Communicate with DHS officials, court officers and judges, law enforcement, and expert witnesses
  • Prepare clients for interviews and court appearances; prepare direct and cross examination for hearings
  • Frequently assist clients from diverse cultures whose primary language is not English
  • Demonstrate agility, creativity, and problem-solving in addressing urgent situations and developing effective legal strategies
  • Maintain accurate case files and meet all deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Conduct legal research and stay current on developments in immigration law and policy

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Active member in good standing of the Massachusetts or Rhode Island Bar
  • 1-3 years of solid immigration law experience performed on a routine daily basis
  • Experience with humanitarian immigration — T Visa, U Visa, VAWA, asylum, or removal defense
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
  • Experience in a high-volume immigration legal office environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Fluent / Professional Spanish — preferred for direct client work
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and function effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Background in USCIS and NVC cases strongly preferred
  • Direct T Visa petition experience
  • Experience with survivor populations (labor trafficking, domestic violence)
  • Immigration case management software proficiency
  • Familiarity with community-based legal service models
