Job Summary
We are seeking a Deaf Services Advocate for a direct hire opportunity in Irvine, CA with a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving individuals who are d/Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Deaf Disabled, and Late-Deafened.
This role is ideal for a fluent ASL communicator who is passionate about Deaf Culture, disability rights, independent living, and community advocacy. You will provide direct support, resource coordination, case management, housing assistance, employment readiness support, and community outreach to help consumers achieve greater independence and access essential services.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide advocacy, case management, independent living support, and individualized services for consumers in the Deaf community.
- Assist consumers with housing resources, employment readiness, benefits navigation, transportation, healthcare access, and community service connections.
- Maintain an active caseload, complete accurate documentation, and ensure confidential records are updated in a timely manner.
- Conduct workshops, educational presentations, and outreach activities for consumers, partners, and community organizations.
- Build and maintain relationships with employers, housing providers, the Department of Rehabilitation, Regional Center, Medi-Cal, CalAIM, and other community resources.
- Provide services both in-office and at the Department of Rehabilitation location in Laguna Hills.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $41,600 to $49,920 per year.
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Location: Irvine, CA, with services also provided in Laguna Hills.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Provide advocacy, case management, and resource coordination for individuals who are d/Deaf, DeafBlind, Hard of Hearing, Deaf Disabled, and Late-Deafened.
- Support housing navigation, independent living goals, employment readiness, and access to community resources.
- Manage consumer documentation, service plans, referrals, follow-up activities, and case records.
- Deliver workshops, presentations, and outreach services to consumers and community partners.
- Fluent in American Sign Language.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Deaf Culture.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience working with the Deaf community or in a related human services field.
- Experience with case management, consumer advocacy, community outreach, independent living skills training, benefits navigation, or social services.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization, time management, documentation, and recordkeeping skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, case management systems, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or related tools.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, active listening, professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural competency.
- Ability to handle crisis intervention, problem solving, conflict resolution, multitasking, and professional judgment.
- Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Department of Rehabilitation programs and processes.
- Experience with Regional Center, CalAIM, Medi-Cal navigation, or benefits counseling.
- Housing navigation experience, including affordable housing resources and tenant rights knowledge.
- Employment services, vocational resources, or disability employment support experience.
- Familiarity with independent living philosophy, disability rights, and advocacy.
- Workshop facilitation, public speaking, and community education experience.
- Experience with grant documentation, fee-for-service reporting, data entry, and program reporting.
- Experience working with diverse populations and developing community resources.
