Job Description

The Policy Analyst assists the Community Behavioral Health (CBH) Manager of Compliance with the development, implementation, and maintenance of organizational policies to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal standards. This position will analyze risks, conduct audits, update policies and procedures based on new requirements, and train employees to foster a culture of compliance.

Essential Functions:

Ensure CBH implements and maintains a compliance program comprised of the seven elements of an effective compliance program.

Policy Development:

  • Create, update, and maintain comprehensive company policies and procedures to meet legal, regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Ability to evaluate existing policy language and make recommendations for improvement.

Regulatory Monitoring:

  • Stay current on industry-specific laws and regulations, updating internal policies accordingly.

Risk Assessment:

  • Perform audits and risk assessments to identify, minimize, and manage potential compliance liabilities.
  • Ability to investigate potential violations and conduct root cause analysis.

Training & Communication:

  • Develop compliance training programs and educate employees on policy requirements.

Liaison & Reporting:

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external regulators to report compliance metrics and address violations. Frequently interfacing with senior leadership.

This role maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and participating in professional societies.


Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Law, Behavioral Health, Public Health, or related Healthcare field.

License/Certification:

  • Compliance or Privacy Certification required or obtained within six months of accepting the position.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • At least 2 years of direct experience working in healthcare or a managed care environment, experience working with Medicaid programs preferred.

Skills:

  • Understanding of managed care and behavioral healthcare delivery systems and services
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent research, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines as well as quality expectations
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word, and Smartsheet
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and summarize reports in a comprehensive and concise manner
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Compliant with HIPAA regulations

Philadelphia Residency Requirement:

  • The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire.
