Job Title: Sommelier

Verjus is a neighborhood wine bar and restaurant from the team behind Quince. We offer an ever-evolving menu inspired by the seasons alongside one of San Francisco's most thoughtful wine programs. Our service is warm, knowledgeable, and rooted in genuine hospitality, creating memorable experiences for our guests.

We are seeking a passionate and service-driven Sommelier to join our front-of-house team. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply curious about wine, enjoys connecting with guests, and thrives in a collaborative, high-performance environment. The Sommelier plays an integral role in shaping the guest experience through thoughtful wine recommendations, education, and impeccable service.

• Guide guests through Verjus' wine program with confidence, warmth, and enthusiasm.
• Recommend wine pairings that enhance the dining experience.
• Maintain expert knowledge of our wine list, producers, vintages, and seasonal menu.
• Assist with daily wine service, inventory, storage, and organization.
• Support staff education through ongoing wine training and mentorship.
• Collaborate with the culinary and service teams to deliver seamless hospitality.
• Maintain the highest standards of professionalism, cleanliness, and attention to detail.

• Previous experience as a sommelier or in fine dining wine service.
• Strong foundational knowledge of wine, regions, varietals, and food pairing.
• WSET, CMS, or equivalent certification is preferred but not required.
• Genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
