TIG Welder

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced TIG Welder to fabricate custom, short-run, prototype equipment for the food industry. This role focuses on precision welding of thin-gauge stainless steel, producing high-quality, food-grade components that meet strict quality and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform TIG (GTAW/Heliarc) welding on thin stainless steel components.
• Support fabrication projects using MIG (GMAW) and wire-feed welding processes as needed.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Set up, fixture, and weld complex assemblies to precise tolerances.
• Configure and operate GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding equipment.
• Inspect welds and finished assemblies to ensure quality, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
• Use hand tools and measuring instruments to verify fit, finish, and tolerances.
• Maintain food-grade weld quality standards, including cleanliness and smooth finishes.
• Perform repairs and adjustments as needed to meet quality requirements.
• Follow all safety procedures and contribute to a positive team environment.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional welding experience.
• Advanced TIG welding experience, particularly with thin-gauge stainless steel.
• Proficiency with MIG welding and wire-feed processes.
• Experience producing food-grade or sanitary stainless steel weldments.
• Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Strong measuring, layout, and mathematical skills.
• Experience with fixturing, fitting, and assembly setup.
• Proficiency using welding equipment, hand tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• ASME Section IX and/or AWS D1.1 welding certifications are preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a custom fabrication or prototype manufacturing environment.
• Experience building equipment or components for the food processing industry.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high quality standards.
• Desire to continuously develop welding and fabrication skills.

Work Environment

Work in a clean, temperature-controlled custom fabrication shop producing prototype equipment for the food industry. The pace is steady and quality-driven, with a focus on precision welds, superior workmanship, and food-grade standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ramsey, MN.

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $36.00/hr.
